Transport Fever 3 Mods — Mod Hub, Install Guide & Steam Workshop Status

Transport Fever 3 Mods
Quick answer: Transport Fever 3 brings cross-platform mod support through an in-game mod browser called the Mod Hub, built on mod.io — PC and console players install community content without leaving the game, and Steam Workshop is excluded. A Curated Mods Program gave experienced modders early access and support ahead of launch.
This page explains how mods work. It does not list individual mods — the catalogue changes constantly, so browse it live in the Mod Hub or on mod.io/g/transportfever3.
Where do I get Transport Fever 3 mods?
In the game — not on the Steam Workshop. Transport Fever 3's mods live in a single in-game browser called the Mod Hub, hosted by mod.io and shared across Steam, EGS, GOG, PlayStation and Xbox:
- Open the game's main menu
- Select Mod Hub
- Browse the categories and download — the game manages the files from then on
The same catalogue is browsable outside the game at mod.io/g/transportfever3. File-based manual mods still work — see How to install a mod. If you went looking for a Steam Workshop page, there isn't one: here's why.
Is there a Transport Fever 3 mod list?
Not on this page — any static list is a snapshot that goes stale. The live catalogue is the Mod Hub inside the game, or mod.io/g/transportfever3 on the web; both show the same catalogue shared across Steam, EGS, GOG, PlayStation and Xbox.
What is the Mod Hub?
The Mod Hub is the official name for Transport Fever 3's in-game mod browser. It is built on mod.io and lives inside the game, so instead of a store-by-store workshop there is one catalog shared by Steam, EGS, GOG, PlayStation and Xbox.
- Where it is — open the game's main menu and select Mod Hub. The official manual calls it the official mod browser, hosted by mod.io; there is no Steam Workshop page standing in for it.
- Browsing — the hub is organised into categories, and a mod's tags decide which of them it appears in.
- My Mods — the tab where your own mods appear; updating one means opening the Mod Hub, going to My Mods and selecting the mod to update.
- Storage — downloaded Mod Hub content is managed by the game and is not meant to be edited by hand. On Windows the Mod Hub mod folder is
C:\Users\Public\mod.io\10640\mods; on Linux it is~/mod.io/common/10640/mods/. - Outside the game — the same catalog is reachable on mod.io at mod.io/g/transportfever3, the community page linked from the official modding manual.
- For creators — the official modding manual documents the tools and file formats: wiki.transportfever3.com → Modding.
How to install a mod
- Launch the game and open the main menu.
- Select Mod Hub — this is where PC and console players find community content.
- Browse the hub's categories to find the mod you want, and download it there.
- The game manages the files from then on — you don't copy anything into folders yourself.
Prefer file-based modding? Manual mods go in the mods folder inside the game's userdata directory — a different location from the Mod Hub folder, and the one the manual recommends for manual installs.
What's confirmed
- Cross-platform mod support — mods work on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, a first for the series
- In-game mod browser (mod.io) — browse, download and manage mods in-game across Steam, EGS, GOG, PlayStation and Xbox
- Curated Mods Program — selected experienced modders get early access, dedicated support and a say in the modding tools; a first batch is already testing in closed beta
- Automated console approval — a new approval system built with Sony and Microsoft lets a wider range of mods reach consoles
- More powerful modding tools — creators can add new vehicles, maps, script mods, save games and localizations
- Manual downloads still possible — mods can still be shared outside the in-game browser
The Steam Workshop question
Transport Fever 2 accumulated 15,000+ mods on the Steam Workshop, and many players search "transport fever 3 steam workshop". For TF3 the answer is no — Steam Workshop is excluded in favour of the single integrated mod.io browser. See Mods & Steam Workshop for the full breakdown.
Timeline
- At launch (Sep 29, 2026): the Mod Hub and modding tools shipped with the game
- Multiplayer: community multiplayer is a mod project, not official — MPFever and FeverLink3 are the two documented PC mods; see Multiplayer & Mod
Mods not working? Troubleshooting
- Mod Hub crashes (Linux) — still reported by some players. Start with the Linux checks on Performance & Troubleshooting.
- Performance dropped after installing mods — mods add CPU simulation load, not just GPU load. The official guidance is to start the game without mods first when diagnosing performance or startup problems.
- A mod broke the construction menu — a faulty mod could do this. The 8 October update (40420) fixed a construction-menu error caused by faulty mods, so update the game before blaming the mod.
- A mod doesn't appear where you expect — the hub is organised into categories, and a mod's tags decide which categories it shows up in.
Current issues
- The first post-launch update (Steam version 40420, 8 October 2026) reached the default channel with a set of modding fixes — mod-validator file validation, a crash with mods that have dependencies in the staging area, and incorrect auto-activation for non-builtin mods (
OFFICIAL). The earlier preview build 40415 carried the first batch (PREVIEW_RELEASE_NOTE). - Some players still report Linux Mod Hub crashes (
PLAYER_REPORTED). - Urban Games has said it has heard the feedback on the mod hub and is working on it (
OFFICIAL). - Park&Ride mod — status conflicting. The official site reported the Park&Ride mod issue fixed on 9 October 2026, but Steam community posts as of 14 October 2026 still recommend disabling the mod. The two sources disagree, so treat the status as unresolved: follow the latest official note, and if you still hit the issue, disable the mod temporarily (
OFFICIAL9 Oct /PLAYER_REPORTED14 Oct). - Build status — the mod fixes are on the stable branch. The second stability update, build 40423 (22 October 2026), is on the default/Stable channel: it improves in-game performance for players running multiple mods, fixes a crash caused by mods adding CSS files, fixes mod ratings not displaying correctly in the Mod Hub, fixes an error caused by moving the topmost mod up in the mod list, and improves validation for aircraft metadata (
OFFICIAL). Preview testing ran through 40422 (15 October) and 40423 (20 October) before the stable release. The only newer build is 40425 — a Steam preview-only build (22 October 2026) that fixes the crash introduced by Nvidia GeForce driver 621.01 on RTX 50-series GPUs; it has not reached the stable channel, and Urban Games says a hotfix is coming (OFFICIAL).
