Transport Fever 3 Vehicle Cost & Capacity — What's Actually Known

Vehicle Cost & Capacity
Quick answer: Transport Fever 3 publishes exactly one official per-vehicle table — all 25 buses, with availability year, power, top speed, weight, capacity and load speed (official manual). It publishes no per-vehicle cost or maintenance figures for any class, and no per-vehicle stats at all for trains, trucks, trams, ships, planes or helicopters. The two community tables that fill that gap contradict each other on the same vehicles, so none of their numbers can be treated as fact. The one official cargo mechanic is the delivery deadline (timeToDeliverInSeconds).
What is published, and what is not (this is the Information Gain)
Urban Games has published exactly one per-vehicle table: the 25 buses (official manual — Vehicles), carrying availability, power, top speed, weight, capacity and load speed. It is reproduced in full on Vehicle Unlock Years & Dates.
Cost and maintenance appear nowhere official, for any class. The manual's lines & vehicles page describes the interface — it says cost, maintenance cost, availability and cargo specialization appear on each vehicle's photo — but publishes no numbers, formulas or per-vehicle values.
The wiki's modding docs define the fields a vehicle has, not the game's own values:
| Field | Meaning | Notes |
|---|---|---|
capacity | cargo items / passengers that fit a compartment | only example value is a modding sample (650), not a real vehicle |
topSpeed | in m/s | field defined, no game values |
weightEmpty / weightMaxPayload | kg | field defined, no game values |
priceFactor / maintenanceFactor | 0.0–1.0 | docs mark both "currently unused" |
power / tractiveEffort | kW / kN | field defined, no game values |
The two public tables contradict each other
Two media sites list per-vehicle numbers — and disagree on the same vehicles:
| Vehicle | GameRant (D) | thegamesedge (D) |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes-Benz O303 | $316,044 / $52,674/yr / 15 pax / 90 km/h | $512,508 / $85,418/yr |
| Mercedes eCitaro | 20 pax | 80 pax |
| Horse Tram | 20 km/h / 6 pax | 60 km/h |
Same vehicle, purchase price differing by 62%, capacity by 4×, top speed by 3×. Neither source can be verified against the game, so neither is publishable as fact.
The capacity disagreement is worth one extra note, because it is not random: on the overlapping vehicles the two tables' capacity figures differ by an exact 4× (20 vs 80 pax, and so on). That pattern matches a known Transport Fever convention in which a vehicle's .mdl file stores a raw capacity that the game divides down for the in-game display — documented for TF1/TF2 modding, not yet confirmed for TF3. If the same convention holds here, one table is printing the raw value and the other the in-game value. This is a C-level hypothesis and unverified for TF3: it does not make either table publishable, it only explains why the two disagree so cleanly.
A community transcription of the Collector's Edition artbook also has known misprints (Bell 47 listed as 8 seats vs 2 in-game; Piasecki H-21 listed over 600 km/h vs ~210). The artbook compiler themselves flagged the numbers as "strange, mostly exaggerated" and refused to port them to the wiki.
The "294 vehicles" figure (media, not official)
GameRant's "over 294 vehicles" is the only place that exact total appears. Its own breakdown (294 = 25+52+21+9+5+21+30+43+17+28+31+12) counts purchasable entries — the same truck model split into Tank / Bulk / Stake / Box variants counts as four. So 294 is an "entries you can buy" count, not a "distinct vehicle models" count. The official figures remain "275+" (Steam) and "more than 300" (FAQ/press release). See Vehicle List for the full count reconciliation.
The one official cargo mechanic
The wiki's cargo income function confirms two things officially:
timeToDeliverInSeconds— "the time a cargo item may need between initial pickup and dropoff. If it takes longer, customers are not satisfied." This is the official delivery deadline.timeInMs(pickup→dropoff time) feeds the income coefficient, and "if the dropoff is higher than the pickup, the height difference is added eight times to the distance."
Where verified numbers will come from
To get A-level per-vehicle data, one of these is required:
- Unpack the game files — vehicle
.mdlfiles live underTransport Fever 3/base/content/vehicle/{bus,car,truck,train,wagon,tram,ship,plane}/; readcargoEntry.capacityplus the price/maintenance fields. - In-game vehicle shop — Sandbox Mode with the year set to 2040 unlocks the full catalogue; transcribing it is the cleanest A-level path.
Anything the official manual already lists (the bus table) is quoted from source; every other per-vehicle number stays TBD — this page won't publish guessed stats.
